Forestry mulching questions, answered
Straight answers about forestry mulching around Little Rock and about how this free matching service works.
Are you a land clearing company?
No. LittleRockForestryMulching.com is a free matching service run by Voraus LLC. We pass your request to an independent forestry mulching contractor, who quotes and does the work under their own contract.
Is there a charge to use this site?
No. It's free for landowners. Contractors may pay us a referral fee. You never pay us anything, and you're free to get other quotes.
What is forestry mulching?
A machine with a rotating cutting head grinds brush and small trees into mulch where they stand, clearing land without piling or burning.
What size trees can be mulched?
It depends on the machine. Many handle small to medium trees; larger trees may need felling first. Ask the contractor about their equipment.
What happens to the mulch?
It stays on the ground as a protective layer that reduces erosion and breaks down over time.
Will the brush grow back?
Some species resprout from roots or seed. Follow-up mowing, grazing or targeted treatment helps keep land open.
Can you work when it's wet?
Contractors often wait for drier ground to avoid rutting, especially on clay soils. Wet weather can delay jobs.
Is mulching better than bulldozing?
It disturbs less soil and leaves no burn piles, which is why many landowners prefer it. Bulldozing may still be needed for building pads and stump removal.
What should I include in my request?
Acreage, what's growing, terrain, trees to keep, what you'll use the land for, and timing.
How do I stop communications?
Reply "stop" to any email from us or use the contact in our privacy policy, and we'll stop contacting you and stop sharing your request.
Licensing and what to check
Arkansas licenses contractors through the Arkansas Contractors Licensing Board, with residential licensing and registration requirements for residential work above a dollar threshold and a commercial license for larger commercial projects. Whether land clearing on your project falls under those rules depends on the job's scope and value, so ask any contractor about their licensing and for a certificate of insurance covering general liability.
We don't vet equipment or guarantee any work, and a match isn't an endorsement. Walk the property with the contractor, mark trees to keep, and get the scope and price in writing.
Questions worth asking a forestry mulching contractor
- Do you price by the acre or the hour, and what's included?
- What size trees can your machine handle, and what happens with bigger ones?
- How will you handle trees I want to keep?
- What do you do about stumps, and is stump grinding extra?
- How does wet weather affect your schedule?
- Do you carry general liability insurance, and can I see the certificate?
